What’s it like to hear your business has made the latest Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies list? “The entire Capital Square team is thrilled,” says Louis Rogers, CEO, Capital Square 1031.

Not only did this Henrico County company make the list for the first time, but with a 2016 revenue of $42.7 million and a growth rate of 925 percent, Capital Square 1031 ranked nearly 500 spots higher than the next local honoree on the list.

“This has been a record couple of years for us,” says Rogers. “Last year, Capital Square was the second-fastest-growing company in the Richmond area, as determined by BizSense. This spring, I was a finalist for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in the Mid-Atlantic, and just last week, Inc. Magazine reported that Capital Square is the fastest-growing company in Richmond and one of the fastest-growing real estate firms in the nation. This is a testament to the hard-working people who really care and do everything in their power to achieve the best possible results for our investors and business partners.”

Capital Square began in a small office in Innsbrook, and recently moved to a new location on Nuckols Road. “Our firm recently completed a substantial expansion of the corporate office in Highwoods One to have sufficient room for new hires and growth,” explains Rogers. “We now have an A/V room for frequent webinars, work rooms, and even a locker room and shower. Henrico County is a convenient location for employees who enjoy a nearly traffic-free commute, with easy access to restaurants and recreation.”

Henrico Accounts for 53% of RVA Inc. 5000
Overall, 30 companies from the Richmond region made the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies List this year, with 16 of those firms located in Henrico. Nine Henrico County companies ranked in the top half of the Richmond-area businesses on the list.

The 30 local companies on this year’s list reported a combined $721.8 million in revenues in 2016, with a group average three-year growth rate of 406 percent. The Henrico companies on the list generated more than $342 million in revenue last year and averaged a three-year growth rate of roughly 198 percent as a group.

As in past years, a number of the Henrico companies that made the list are Inc. 5000 alum – a true testament to the strength of Henrico’s business community. Thirteen (81 percent) of the 16 firms are repeat honorees, with CapTech Ventures making an appearance on the list for the eleventh time, Taradel making its 10th appearance, Mosquito Squad its seventh, and TDBBS (Best Bully Sticks) are both six-time honorees, and Dynamic Mobile Imaging made the list for the fifth time.

The addition of real estate investment firm Capital Square 1031 ensures the list accurately represents the broad range of industries found in Henrico, as the ranks include retail, advertising and marketing, consumer products, and health care companies, with the IT services sector best represented, comprising 31 percent of the Henrico companies.

Special congratulations go out to first-time Henrico list-makers IT consulting firm Solvaria and maintenance management software provider Decisiv, as well as Acorn Sign Graphics, which is back on the list after a two-year absence.

Solvaria has been in business for 20 years, so why the sudden jump in revenue? According to Greg Samuels, CEO of Solvaria: “We underwent a total rebrand in 2016 where we adopted Solvaria as our new company name – it was formerly B2B Solutions – and refocused our service offerings to better meet the needs of our clients. We’re now the only firm in Richmond focused exclusively on data management and strategic IT leadership, and we work hard to fill the need for those services in the area.”

Like Capital Square 1031, Samuels’ business recently moved to a new home in Henrico. “Solvarians now have a ‘home base’ in our new office space in Glen Allen that they can work together and collaborate in. Prior to this year, we had a shared office space that didn’t foster the same team mentality we have now. Also, Innsbrook is home to so many great companies, including many of our clients, so our new location is very convenient to our customers and consultants.”
